I truly enjoy Washers
But as a sport I am curious if there is any effort to settle on a standardized game?
The three hole, vs one etc limits things in my view.
You don't see two/three ruleset for golf or tennis etc.
I also think the game improves immensely with sand in box, stopping the annoying bounce outs even though you hit targert.
You see horseshoes evolved to have hooks on the shoes to held it hold the peg to stop bounce offs.
Is there any consensus in this area?

I personally don't see it growing big enough to have a governing body like the way that cornhole is evolving into. If you go down to texas they bury the cup in the ground. If you go to Missouri we play tossing a washer into a cup that is in a box. If you go to Ohio or New York, well, 3-hole is the norm. It seems to be regionalized and I don't see that changing any time soon.
