1) For really nice custom boards, I like to use these here and get that purple Styrofoam like foam from lowes or home depot and line the sides to protect the boards: www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-4878/Corrugated-Boxes-200-Test/54-x-8-x-28-275-lb-FOL-Side-Loading-Corrugated-Boxes
2) If they are just regular boards with not all the frills, then you can skip the foam edge protection and get: www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-12773/Corrugated-Boxes-200-Test/48-x-8-x-24-275-lb-FOL-Side-Loading-Corrugated-Boxes
3) Be sure you put thin packing foam in between the boards to prevent rubbing. I put that between them face to face than shrink wrap them before putting them in the box to prevent any movement. I recommend UPS ground for the cheapest route.
4) A lot of local packing supply companies will make you a custom box possibly for cheaper. The above two option sizes are what I recommend. To each their own. I hope this helps.
