One of the most frequently asked questions about washer toss is: which size washer should be used to play a washer toss game (washers game)? There are three common sizes that most players pitch: 2 inch (outer diameter) 2.25 inch, and 2.5 inch.
2 Inch Washers
2 inch diameter washers are popular to play a washer toss game with because they are smaller than most washers that are pitched, making them perfect for beginners and small children to play with. The narrow diameter makes it much easier to land the washers in the cup or hole than the 2.25 inch and 2.5 inch washers.
2.25 Inch Washers
2.25 diameter washers are popular to use because they strike the perfect balance between the smaller 2 inch washers and the largers 2.5 inch washers. They are a little heavier than the 2 inch washers, so they are easier to control, and easier to land in the cup or hole than the 2.5 inch washers.
2.5 Inch Washers
These are by far the most popular size washers to use, and they are the official size that most tournaments use. If you want to be considered as a legitimate washer toss game player, you should only pitch 2.5 inch washers. While the 2.5 inch washers are the most common, just remember to use what is most comfortable for you. It's a game, and games are meant to be fun!
3 or 3.5 Inch Washers
These are used with 3-hole washer boards that have 4" cups to add a skill challenge to the game.
