At a lot of tournaments you will see the "Last Man Standing" game played as a filler game for in between tournaments or at the end of a tournament. How does it work? First is the buy in. To play everyone will need to buy in. Normally it is $5 (but it can be $10 too). Once everyone buys in then everyone will start with 4 bags. Each person tries to get one of those 4 bags in the hole. If they succeed, then they let the next paid player try until the entire pool of players has had a chance. If they miss then they can drop out, but if they fail, then since this is round 1 with 4 bags they can buy back in for $5 to try again. If they buy back in, then they will get another try at the end of the other pool of players that still get their chance. This buy back in option is unlimited, so they can buy back in as many times as they want for only the 1st round of 4 bags ($5 each extra time) or the 2nd round of 3 bags ($10 each extra time). After the 2nd round no player can buy back in when the pool gets down to 2 bags. This buy back in option can increase the pot dramatically, especially to those who can't accept losing!
Moving on after the 1st round is the 2nd round. On the 2nd round every player still in it that made at least one bag from the last round now only gets 3 bags to toss. Of those 3 bags they must make at least one of those bags in the hole. If they fail, then they again can drop out OR as in round one buy back in, but this time for $10. Moving on after the 2nd round is the 3rd round. Everyone now gets just 2 bags, of which they must make 1 of those 2 bags in the hole. If you fail in this 2 bags round you are out. You can not buy back in. Moving on the the final 4th round everyone still remaining gets just 1 bag. They must make it in the hole or they are out. If no player makes a back in the hole then they all start over until one player makes it in the hole. The games ends when the last man standing is the only person to make it in the hole. If there is a tie, then they keep playing until only one person makes it. During this last 4th round where everyone has just one bag the final players do have the option to mutually agree to split the pot without tossing that one bag. For instance, if the pot is $500 and there are 2 players left to toss one bag, then they both can agree to split the pot and get $250 each instead of possibly ending up with nothing.
